NOTICE
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 26, 2022 – INMATES REQUESTING AND /OR RECEIVING MEDICAL/DENTAL SERVICES WHILE IN CUSTODY OF THE UNION COUNTY JAIL WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH SERVICE FEES—ALL FEES WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE ORDER OF PAYMENT OF RESTITUTION.

(IOWA CODE CHAPTER 356.7)

  • DAILY JAIL FEES: $75.00
  • BOOKING FEE (CONVICTED/SENTENCED): $20.00
  • MEDICAL/DENTAL TREATMENT: COST OF BILL
  • MEDICAL/DENTAL TRANSPORT: $20.00
  • RX PICK UP: $5.00

About the Jail

The Union County Jail currently has six (6) full-time employees.  The jail holds 11 inmates (3 single cells and 2 four-person cells) and is generally full to capacity including sending inmates to be temporarily housed in other county jails.  The jail meets standards to house male and female prisoners.

Jail meals are prepared by a local caterer in Creston and delivered to the jail.

The Union County Jail will not accept the following items for inmates:

  • packages
  • obscene or pornographic materials
  • personal checks
  • stamped envelopes
  • food
  • periodicals not sent directly from the publisher

Telephone Calls

Inmates are not allowed incoming calls.  Outgoing calls from inmates are allowed on a daily basis.

Visitation

All visitors must present a photo ID.

Visitors must be on a list provided by the inmate.
