Salvage Theft Examination
Iowa law requires all vehicles designated “salvage” or vehicles that have a “salvage” title to be physically examined by a peace officer who has been certified by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy to conduct inspections prior to issuance of an Iowa vehicle registration.
Cost of examination is $50.00. Customers will need to use the internet to apply for a VTE (vehicle theft examination) and make payment with the electronic system before contacting our office to schedule the exam.
Contact Chief Deputy Chris Knouse at the Union County Sheriff’s Office at 641-782-7717, Monday thru Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM to set up an examination.
